Riding Academy Information

We’re always learning.

  • Lessons

At Perennial Farm, we offer lesson horses for all levels of riders. Our goal is to create confident and knowledgeable riders while maintaining a safe and positive environment. To that end, our curriculum focuses on both teaching students how to properly care for their equine partners and cultivating their riding skills.

It’s important to remember that horseback riding is not just about time spent in the saddle. It’s about understanding how to care for and relate to horses on the ground. Complementing our mounted lessons, we offer unmounted instruction that delves into horsemanship, allowing you to connect with your equine companion on a deeper level. Learning the nuances of horse care, grooming and equine behavior will enhance your riding experience and make you a more well-rounded equestrian.

Riders are placed in group or private lessons based on their level. Group lessons are one hour in length and private lessons are 30 minutes in length. All English riders are welcome. You do not have to be a member of the Tampa Yacht & Country Club.

    Academy Subscription Program

The Academy is a subscription-based program. Subscription-based lessons are very similar to other activities you or your rider may participate in such as sports, music lessons, cooking classes, etc.

Lesson subscriptions secure the day and time for riders to take one lesson per week. If the student cannot make his/her dedicated time during a week, Perennial Farm will allow one makeup lesson per month provided the student cancels by 5 p.m. the day prior to the lesson via text. If a lesson is not made up within the month, it will expire. Lessons missed during the last week of the month will have an additional one-week grace period in the following month. If weather prevents riding, unmounted horsemanship lessons will be substituted. Should weather prevent the barn from being open at all, makeup times will be offered.

Your subscription rate will be the same each month. Most months will have four lesson days and occasionally a month will have five. July and December will have three. All students start out in a 30-minute private lesson and will move into a 1-hour group lesson once the instructor determines they are able to safely ride with others.

On behalf of our entire team, we are looking forward to having you join our lesson program!

  • Fine Print

Our monthly tuition price is based on the annual value of 50 lessons per year. You will put a credit card on file that will be automatically charged $355 plus a processing fee each month.

Charges will begin on the first day of enrollment and continue every month thereafter. This agreement may be canceled by either party with at least 30 days written notice prior to the desired date of termination, however no refunds will be given.

The stables are closed the week of June 30th - July 6th and December 23rd - December 29th, 2024. Additionally, we are closed January 27th for the Gasparilla invasion, February 23rd for a private TYCC event and November 28th for Thanksgiving.
